Inaugurated on 21 April 1927, the São Januário Stadium is both the home ground and club headquarters of Clube De Regatas Vasco da Gama. It covers an estimated area of 56,000 m² and can hold up to 35,000 fans. The São Januário is not just a football stadium however. It is also home to a water park, two multi purpose gyms, two tennis courts and various other sporting facilities. Youth team players who come from other parts of the country are housed within the stadium complex and given free schooling.
